Operational Protocol

Server RulesSurvive Within The Lines

These rules protect the style, atmosphere, and long-term health of the server. They set the minimum standard of conduct — not every possible situation. Staff moderate with fairness and common sense, and will act on anything that clearly works against the spirit of the server, even when it isn't spelled out below.

KOS is allowed. Griefing is not.

Directive

Spirit of the Server

This is a medium-hardcore, player-driven Organic RP server. Freedom is core to it — trade, explore, build communities, turn bandit, hunt dangerous people, or survive alone. With that freedom comes responsibility: winning every encounter or maximizing personal gain should never take priority over creating memorable interactions and stories.

Before doing something that significantly affects other players or ongoing stories, ask whether your character's choices create opportunities for meaningful interaction rather than simply ending it. Deliberately hunting for technical loopholes, or acting in ways that undermine the intent of the server, may be treated as a violation even when a specific action isn't explicitly prohibited.

Staff won't judge whether your roleplay, motives, or story are "good" or "bad." They step in only when conduct clearly shows intent to disregard the spirit of the server or repeatedly undermines others' experience — for example:

  • Repeatedly ending interactions as fast as possible, when roleplay opportunities exist, just to avoid engagement.
  • Creating characters whose sole purpose is to grief or antagonize, with no believable goals, personality, or motivation.
  • A repeated pattern of behavior that discourages others from playing or interacting with your character.

Conduct

Community Conduct

  • Respect other players, their roleplay, and the server environment.
  • Racism, hate speech, discriminatory language, and excessively sexualized behavior are prohibited.
  • English is the primary language of Discord — keep public communications in English.
  • DayZ is a harsh world, but keep both in-character AND out-of-character conduct respectful.
  • No posting of 'kill count' screenhots in our screenshots channel. Any future and past posts displaying kill counts with the intention of boasting, will be removed at the discretion of moderators. This is not in the spirit of what we are intending to promote for player experience.

Integrity

Fair Play

Using software, exploits, or technology to gain an unfair advantage is prohibited. This includes:

  • Cheating — third-party cheats, hacks, or scripts.
  • Hacking & Exploiting — abusing bugs or circumventing intended systems.
  • Glitching & Duping — duplication or geometry exploits.
  • Stream sniping — using live streams to track players.
  • Alternate accounts.

Immersion

Organic Roleplay

Roleplay is strongly encouraged for the best experience, but isn't required in every encounter.

  • While Hostile encounters do not require initiation, players should consider how their actions impact their storyline, as well as how they impact the enjoyment of others.
  • KOS is permitted within the server rules.
  • Roleplay should stay believable and must never contain racism, hate speech, discriminatory language, or excessive sexual content.

Combat

Combat Logging

Players may not log out:

  • During combat.
  • Within 10 minutes of a hostile encounter.
  • Inside a base they don't own, without the owner's permission.
  • Inside another group's base during an active situation.
  • Inside any keycard bunker.

A hostile encounter includes

  • Attempting entry into a base.
  • Damaging players or property.
  • Gunfire landing within audible range (approx. 30 meters).

Allegiance

Factions

To create a faction, submit the following in the faction channel:

  • Name
  • Theme
  • Alignment
  • Leadership

Construction

Building

Locations

Build almost anywhere except inside bunkers, or in any way that blocks exploration of custom areas. Building inside custom areas is fine as long as it doesn't prevent access. Basing in caves is allowed. Unsure about a spot? Open a staff ticket.

Limits

No gate limits — but bases must still comply with every building rule below.

Each group may maintain up to two flag-protected bases: one Main Base and one Community Center OR a FOB/any other miscellaneous uncategorized reason. Any structure built primarily to facilitate raiding (commonly referred to as a raid base) may not be flag protected. FOBs are not considered permanent bases, and the raid cooldown and base takeover rules do not apply to them. Classification of a structure and whether or not it is considered a FOB is up to admin discretion.

Bases & Storage

A base only counts as a base if it has an active flag. Requirements:

  • At least one raidable entrance at all times.
  • Gates must always be raidable; locks must stay visible and accessible.
  • Leave at least one player-width between consecutive gates.
  • Double-door gates must allow passage if either side is destroyed.
  • Don't build gates directly against another group's gates.
  • Excessive fence posts are prohibited.
  • Storage may not overlap or float. Logical nesting is fine (barrels in tents, tents in larger tents).

Offense

Raiding

Raiding is permitted. A raid is any unauthorized interaction with a secured, flagged base — forcing entry, destroying or dismantling structures, stealing or moving items, damaging vehicles inside it, or boosting in. Vehicles inside a secured base are part of the raid; vehicles outside follow normal rules.

During raids, defenders may NOT relock gates within the time limit of 15 minutes of raid or combat activity anywhere in the base.

Only Breaching Charges and Raid Hammers may be used. Ammo, melee, and explosive raiding are disabled. Record raids whenever possible — the burden of proof rests on the attackers.

Boosting

Allowed

  • One player assisting another.
  • One placed item.
  • One thrown backpack.
  • Raid watchtowers — no height limit.
  • Wiggling through windows and gaps wide enough to accomodate a player is allowed.

Not Allowed

  • Standing on multiple players at once.
  • Standing on players positioned on structures you placed.
  • Campfires.
  • Garden plots.

Attackers must record evidence showing how they boosted into the base.

Dismantling

Only dismantle what's reasonably necessary to gain entry or exit. A wall may be dismantled if it obstructs placement of a watchtower being built to raid the base.

You may only take another group's flag so long as you replace it with another, and fully raise it.

Unnecessary dismantling is prohibited.

You are NOT allowed (as either attacker or defender) to disassemble/convert an existing GATE into a FENCE/BARRICADE to gain a tactical advantage during a raid. No walling yourself in - This constitues unnecessary disassembly.

Ghost Gates

As the attacker, you ARE allowed to 'upgrade' a pre-existing FENCE/BARRICADE into a gate (aka ghost gate), as well as disassemble back to its pre-existing state.

Griefing

Griefing is prohibited. Always cause the minimum damage reasonably necessary. Examples of griefing:

  • Destroying more than necessary, or destroying storage without reason.
  • Dismantling bases for materials.
  • Destroying flagpoles without cause.
  • Purposefully despawning loot, or dumping loot just to inconvenience others.

Storage During Raids

  • Raiders may steal storage containers.
  • Make a reasonable effort to leave contained items stored properly.
  • Loot may not be dumped or despawned solely to grief.

Raid Cooldown

After a raid, every member of the participating group or faction must wait 48 hours before raiding the same secured base again — even if different members run the second raid. A raid is concluded once no raid activity or PvP has occurred in the immediate area.

Base Takeovers

A base may only be claimed once it has been successfully raided, every lock removed, and held continuously for 48 hours. During that window: only one replacement lock may be installed, and no dismantling may occur except by the original owners if they reclaim the base.

Raid Notes

A raid note is required only after a successful raid — one where attackers gain access and complete an objective (stealing loot, damaging property, destroying vehicles). No note is required if attackers withdraw because defenders intervene, voice interaction changes the situation, or the attackers die. The note should state a reason for the raid. When required, leave the note in a visible location before departing. Staff may use discretion in deciding whether a raid was completed or abandoned.

Offense
Penalty — Failure to Leave a Raid Note
1st

3rd
3-day ban
4th

Assets

Vehicles

Maximum of 3 vehicles per group or community — including cars, trucks, boats, and ATVs. A vehicle is considered owned if it's secured behind a gate.

Staff will not replace vehicles or items lost to DayZ bugs.

Command

Staff Authority

Staff do not actively play on the server, to keep enforcement fair. They enforce the rules but do not evaluate whether roleplay, motives, or storylines are "good" or "bad." Staff have final authority over enforcement and disputes, and may:

  • Remove or ban players.
  • Require changes to bases that violate the rules.
  • Address abuse of mechanics.
  • Address builds causing excessive server lag.

Staff are unpaid volunteers donating their time to the community. Treat them respectfully.

Survive if you can.
